Ithaca
Ithaca a floating island emerging from the deep blue of the universe. Ithaca, both an idea and a symbol. Ithaca, sunborn and totally forgotten, you would even say foraken. Ithaca of Homer's grandfather where the tale of Odyssey, partly moonstruck and partly fairy-like, still cradles kids to bed on moonlight nights. As for the grown-ups, there stands Homer whose Odyssey still holds him the best amongst the Greek poets, hailing him, himself, as the gate of European civilization, the inexhaustuble source of wisdom. For thirty centuries we have been studying Odyssey; teaching it, elaborating on it, explaining it, commenting on it; and yet we have not been able to reach the end of the tunnel.
